How Well Do You Know Your Heart?

Test your knowledge by answering true or false to the questions below. Then learn more about your heart health!

T or F? Heart health requires one hour of daily exercise.

False. Exercise improves heart health, but an hour daily isn’t required. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends moderate exercise 30 min./day, five days/week.

T or F? Eating high-fiber foods can help lower your cholesterol levels.

True. Dietary fiber helps lower cholesterol levels and can also reduce risk for heart disease, stroke, obesity, and Type 2 diabetes. Whole grains, including oatmeal and brown rice, are good sources of fiber. The AHA recommends 25 grams of fiber daily.

T or F? Breast cancer is the leading killer of women.

False. Breast cancer affects one in eight women, but heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. One in three women will die of heart disease.

T or F? Heart disease primarily affects men.

False. Although men statistically get heart disease at a younger age than women, the AHA says that more women actually die of heart disease annually than men.
